Exploring Soviet Isotypes: digitizing "The Struggle for Five Years in Four"

In 1932 Otto Neurath helped set up IZOSTAT in Moscow to make pictorial statistics for the Soviet state. Its charts are hardly known in the West, so I digitized “The Struggle for Five Years in Four,” which celebrates the first Five-Year Plan, and looked at what happens to the Isotype method when it works for propaganda.
